Elgeyo Marakwet Senator and former senate majority leader, Kipchumba Murkomen has said that he will be in the fore front to block any attempts to remove Senate majority whip, Irungu Kangata.

This is as a result of a letter that Kang’ata wrote to President Uhuru Kenyatta suggesting that the Building Bridges Initiative is unpopular among the people of Central Kenya, from where the head of state hails.

According to Kangata, an independent survey conducted by him showed that only two out of ten persons interviewed supported BBI.

Taking to his Twitter account, the Elgeyo Marakwet senator threatened to remove non-party members installed in leadership positions instead. He was referring to Samuel Phogisio of KANU who replaced him as the majority leader in the senate.

Some politicians have disagreed with Kang’ata’s sentiments while others like Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has thanked the lawmaker for saving the report.
